How do I get the required USA Lacrosse membership?
Go to usalacrosse.com and click ‘Join’
This link will also be provided when you register for the Spring season in TeamSnap.
Are player evaluations required to join Summit Youth Lacrosse?
Summit Youth Lacrosse will use player evaluations to determine a fit for your child to participate for the 2023 spring season and ensure that we are not over subscribed, so the club can ensure a good experience based on coaching and field availability.
We recommend players also sign-up for Bend Parks and Recreation lacrosse as a back-up in case they are not selected for the Summit Youth Team.
Where can I find more information on the rules of boy’s youth lacrosse?
You can find the complete youth rulebook here.
Is the Summit Youth Lacrosse program a good fit for my child?
Here are some key differences between Summit ‘Club’ lacrosse and BPRD ‘Rec’ lacrosse:
Summit Club
The Summit Club is aligned with US Lacrosse membership, suggested rules, and player/growth development standard
Offers a “more” competitive program experience vs BPRD involving multiple game/tournament opportunities involving both local contests and some travel for tournaments
3 month season from March - May
Practice 3x per week (3/4 team is 2x per week) with games and tournaments on weekends. Practice attendance is a major determinant of playing time.
Player evaluations at 5/6 and 7/8 grade levels
BPRD ‘Rec’ League
The Rec league is run by Bend Park and Recreation Department (aka: BPRD).
No-travel requirement - all practices and games are local
6 week season starting in mid-late April-May
Practices and games occur mid-week with an emphasis on a low barrier option to try the game and equal playing time
No tryouts
Which program is right for your kid?
If your child has little to no lacrosse experience, then BPRD programs may be for you. Many of the Summit athletes started with BPRD's lacrosse program. They later joined the Summit team to pursue a higher level of competition and skill development.
If your child has experience, but you are on the fence about which program to choose we're happy to help. Email us and we'll get you sorted out. If needed, we can put you in touch with the Summit Coach for your child's age division.
